  1. Interesting. After reading this chapter it would seem that you are going with the traditional Dr. Octopus. For a brief moment I almost expected to see another original depiction of a classic supervillian like maybe a female Doctor Octopus. Out of curiousity though I take it that because you had John Jameson be the Green Goblin that we won't be seeing John Jameson Manwolf anytime soon. While you probably wouldn't want to answer this question directly is there any chance that in a future arc Spider-Girl may try to crash a "Fantastic" wedding and might even go so far and be as bold as to try to steal the bride?
Keep up the good work and can't wait to see what comes next.

  2. Huh. Weird. I commented earlier and it didn't turn up.

    Oh well, to repeat myself...!

Yes, this is the 'traditional' Doc Ock. I never really thought of doing anything else. This storyline (in some ways) is the closest that I've come yet to the original source material; obviously there are differences...!

It's an interesting question - do people want to see more 'revamps' of classic Marvel villains? I guess everyone is different by the nature of them being in this series, but if people expect the characters to be really different (eg a different sex) I might consider it. Generally though I start with the 'classic' character and see how it can work within the story. If it can work better if it's changed, then I'll change it.

John Jameson as Man Wolf? Not likely, unless I can come up with some genius plotline for him. Honestly I always thought the 'Werewolf Astronaut' idea was pretty whacked, so not my favourite plotline to steal.

Finally... I have noted down some ideas about a potential wedding plot. Not sure how it'll go yet. It's a long, long way off - and things will probably change - so don't hold your breath. We'll get there, though. "Does anyone here know of any reason why this woman.." etc. :)

    Thanks for the comments!

  3. Well, if you could find someway to revamp Norman Osborn that would be intriguing. While I do enjoy the twist with the Green Goblin are you planning on revisiting the senior Osborn at some point? If you are well, you have proven that you can depict him very well but it might seem slightly akward to readers or perhaps just myself to not see him in some sort of villianous role. I believe you have mentioned a Dr. Connors in one of the earlier chapters but did you establish the professor as being the very male Curt Connors or just Dr. Connors because a female Lizard could be an entertaining variable. Hobgoblin would be another fun one to revamp Jason at least before he took the Kraven serum never came off as a particularly impressive to me. If you were to switch the gender of that villian you could if you desired contrast the differences between Spider-girl a character who wears masks in order to feel liberated and do benevolent acts with a female who uses the same sense of freedom to commit wrongs. If at somepoint Kingpin were brought in... I seem to recall Wilson Fisk had a wife at some point it could be interesting to see her revamped as the actual Kingpin while Fisk is just an overly henpicked husband and convenient scapegoat, or something that might allow an possibly enjoyable angle skip Fisk keep the wife as Kingpin but have her be a closet masochist since she must continously rule this shadowy criminal empire she has a secret desire to also be dominated. Sorry about this, but the image of Betty Brant disguising herself as a dominatrix and going to work on a female kingpin who wants to please her mistress seems full of tingly potential in my view. But in the end you are the author and if you do bring in the kingpin I will be eager to see what you do with that figure regardless. Although at least if Venom comes into the picture by keeping Eddie male it might leave potential to play on some gender confusion for Eddie considering the suit's original host the one it first bonded with was female. Still can't wait to see what comes next and I am eagerly anticipating the crossover arc. Keep well.

  4. I really liked it since it dealt more with the masking aspect than the comic book storyline. Thanks!

  5. Hey, er, Anonymous Number 1! Boy, you guys need to leave me a set of initials or something, it gets confusing in here.

Excellent ideas, I have to say! Lemme take 'em one by one:

Norman Osborn: No current plans, but there's plenty of life in that old dog. To be honest the 'Goblin Legacy' is a powerful thing in the comics, so I might do something with it, certainly. I've been reading the period of ASM recently where Harry becomes the second Goblin, and wondering how to replicate some of that soap opera drama in Betty's life. It's not so easy as I've already taken one member of the supporting cast (Gwen) and turned her into... well, a lead role!

Doc Connors/The Lizard: Hadn't thought about him/her. If a plotline comes to mind, maybe, sure. Think it's a long shot though.

Hobgoblin: Definitely like your ideas on motivation. To me the Hobgoblin was always something of a weak villain, but if I could come up with a good twist (equal to the John Jameson one!) then I might go with him. Or her. :)

Kingpin: The Kingpin did have a wife and she was really his Achilles Heel... interesting idea, to switch their roles. Betty as dominatrix? Hmmm...!

Venom: Definitely on the cards in... some form. ;)
